Guess the Acronyms | Meeting Ice Breakers
Game Description:
This is a fun and easy meeting ice breaker by letting the people guess the full meaning of acronyms. It is suitable for all ages and meetings, though adults would probably be more knowledgeable. It can be rather humorous to see how the people can creatively come up with names when they have no idea what the acronym means. For Example, in stead of Doctor of Philosophy, PHD becomes Permanent Head Damage. Yes you will be surprised by the answers they give!
Number of players:
Any
Materials Needed:
A sheet of paper and marker for each group
Noise Level:
Low
Neutrals:
Game Master who will give out questions and scoring
Preparation:
Prepare a list of acronyms, like NASA, IKEA, NATO, SCUBA etc, you can easily get a list of acronyms by googling “acronyms”. The difficulty of the acronyms will be dependent on the background and age group of the people.
How To Play
- Players will be divided into groups of 3-5
- Game master will shout out an acronym, for example, “HTML”
- Group will have to discuss and write the correct answer into the piece of paper
- Winning group will be the one with the most correct answers.

I think this is a great ice breaker for all ages. I plan to use it for a bus trip with adult couples. I\’m sure it will be a fun and engaging. It will also help the time to pass while riding…
Thanks again,
Sharon
